Spark Q: How Long on hose, okay?

Answer off another forum is a minute or two but, not much longer; there is a carbon seal I want to avoid “cooking” (or, “toasting”) unintentionally!

    From the shop manual:

When watercraft is out of water:
    – Never run engine without supplying water to
    the exhaust system.
    – Never run engine longer than 2 minutes.
Drive line seal has no cooling when watercraft
    is out of water.

i run mine like 10-15 seconds. it doesn't get that hot in that time. Two minutes is pushing it in my opinion. I think it would trigger the exhaust temp warning WAY before that.

Can’t argue with that - after all, “prudence IS the better part of valor”!

I wonder if there is a way to cool the carbon ring when it's on the hose? Can't we just put a sprinkler under the ski (aimed at the pump area) if we want to run them for a while?

Leave it strapped to the trailer and fire it up at the boat launch submerged. You can run it aslong as you like.

Not if you're 1/2 hour from the boat launch
