I think you also need to replace the cam gears and cam chain guides as a minimum

There would still be a chance of it moving around on the crank

If chain is centred on the gears, later design is 5 links wide not 3 like the original, (may need wider guides) why would it move? That’s surely only as likely as the thinner chain falling off the gears? You just have link off the side not running on a sprocket?

The chain is wider on 16+ and will move around once running if you are using the thinner gears of the earlier models

Got my oil pan back today. Local shop tig welded the hole up, not a bad job.
Can start the rebuild now
Still looking for an oil breather plate and an earth block for an svho if anyone has one kicking about
