    Question rxpx300 intermediate cooler mounting

    Hello,

I recently purchase a 16 rxpx 300 I was going over the engine bay for any sign of leaks and loose hoses, I noticed a small radiator (Cooler 276000336) was not fasted. Is their any kind of strap or retaining device the clamps it on to the metal bracket. Mine appears to have once been glued with some kind of silicone, but has come loose, it doesn't seem correct. I have search the parts catalogs but am unable to find anything.

Is that the proper way it is secured or am i missing kind of strap?

I'm by no way an expert but that looks like a heat exchanger for your closed loop cooling system. Just like I put on my gprxp. Do you have an aftermarket ride plate? If yes then that little radiator is doing the job your original rideplate was doing.

The reason why your cooler looks like its floating is that it mounts to plastic muffler which was removed when the free flow exhaust was installed.

    Okay,

Thank you for the quick reply. I guess i will secure it down with some zip ties, Unless I can find a better method.

Iíll never understand this limited run of a cooling setup. Worth removing and routing traditionally?

    rxpx300 intermediate cooler mounting

People tried and got high temp oil alarms.

The oil cooler for the 260 was not sufficient for the 300 block.
But there was no space in the hull to install a larger oil cooler on the 300 engine.

To solve this they introduced this 2nd cooler with 2nd thermostat to run cooler cooling fluid to the oil cooler (compared to the cooling fluid running to engine) for 2016 and 2017 models.

Until the 2018 ST3 hull and a hull design change for the 2018 RXP where the bigger oil cooler is installed.

Gotcha, makes perfect sense to me. Thank you for explaining

As moparguy mentioned that has a spot that sits in the factory suitcase(resonator) there is a cover and 2 rubber straps that hold it all down.

i just did a free flow on my ski. I cut the part that the cooler mounts to off the resonator. Used a couple zip ties to hold the mount to the aluminum bracket. Then put the cover back on and straps back on for a little extra support.

300 RXPX 16 I put a 160 thermostat in and got high oil temp alarm. Pulled 2nd cooler and second thermostat out as per older cooling style and no oil temp alarm since.
