Pre-mix in 4-stroke
Is there any harm in having a little amount of pre-mix in the fuel tank? I'm talking less than an ounce. I have fuel jugs that I use to mix for my superjet. When It is empty there is always a small amount left, I then get more fuel and it goes in my RXP. 3 Jugs= maybe an ounce or more of pre-mix. Would this in any way hinder performance?

Would you do it in your truck/car?
Hope not, sometimes you have weird ideas...

It's not an idea, just something that I have been doing and wondered if it was bad.

Amsoil makes a top end lubricant for auto's - just add to gas - since the 4-techs don't have any converters - a little oil ain't going to hurt. Your egt and breathers add oil thru the intake - at least in the gas it would avoid the intake track. Some even claim it does some good. I Have no personal knowledge - other than I sometimes add a little old gas to the truck instead of tossing it out.

I know some racers who run 4-strokes that add 4 oz/tank to stop detination, but i think it's something that shouldn't be recommended.

Be careful. Sometimes oil does not play well with injection systems.

Check Amsoil site - couldn't find the old 'top end lube' - maybe it was carbs only..... That's why I like this foum.

Four stroke engines don't need the extra oil but having FI shouldn't affect anything if you did add it to the fuel. A lot of injected 2 strokes have been converted to pre mix and I never heard of any problems with the injectors. Race outboards run a really rich oil mix and have FI.
