JL Tune and still 7860 max rpm

I have 11 hours on my ski with the 8400rpm JL Tune and it wont go past 7860 rpm no matter what. The max speed is 73mph now and will cruise 73mph around 7800 rpm effortlessly, any idea what could be wrong ? I plan on adding an intake, exhaust and catch can but the guy I found to do the work(WFO) is backed up so cant get me in for at least a month. Anyone else around the Conroe/Houston area that does performance mods on pwcs?

You won't get much past that without the intake. Heat fade is a rather large problem with the intercooler too. Seems about how my RXT X acted with just a SCOM.

put your trim in the middle or a notch up and shift your weight back. You need an intake

I highly recommend WFO as your "go to" shop for performance mods. Also, Rich will help guide you on parts selection and installation of said items. To the point, the wait will be worth it!

thanks I appreciate that, he’s around an hour drive one way for me. When I was reading about the tune before I got it everyone was saying 76-78mph @8400 rpm with no other mods. I was told my oil level could be to
low so I’m checking that tomorrow.

Texas heat, humidity, prop pitch, fuel, load and ridder weight all play a role in a ski’s reaction to a tune. Also what the tune is supposed to have installed on it.(parts wise). Intakes add about 120-160rpm’s. I would add a air intake an O2 sensor and then make sure you have fresh 93. Make a test hit and record with fuel level and load on board as in total weight. I then would prop it to the tune. I like to prop it with around a 1/3 tank of fuel. Not full as rpm will increase 150-200rpm from full to empty fuel.

Thanks for all the advice, I weigh 225 this morning I still had max 73mph but the rpms went up to 8060. Was around 75 degrees air temp and 77 water temp.

Definitely sounds like heat soak! Intercooler time!

Went out today 75 degree water temp 68 air temp saw 74mph at 8280rpm but had around 360lbs with 2 people on ski. That was best one run other few runs was 72mph around 8060rpm. Any suggestions or advice to get more rpms consistently? Should I get upgraded intercooler?

Depitch 1 - 2 MM off the trailing edge of the prop, you'll pick up your missing rpm.
