New 2020 Yamaha one piece pump - Pics and info
Here are some more details about the new 2020 Yamaha Waverunner pump
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The replaceable stainless steel wear ring is coated in a durable plastic compound. The material extends over the trailing edge of the wear ring, or the edge that butts up against the shoulder in the pump housing where the stator (vane) section begins. This is to reduce galvanic corrosion. Grease is applied to the outside of the wear ring before installing. The leading edge that is visible when the wear ring is installed is bare metal. It will be protected by silicone sealant when the pump is installed correctly. See attached pics.
It is normal for the wear ring to move slightly, if it does at all, due to the o-rings holding it in place. Once the complete pump is installed in the craft correctly everything will be clamped down.
SVHO models (160mm)
Wear Ring: 6GN-R1337-00-00
O-rings: 93211-70800-00 (x2)
HO models (155mm)
Wear Ring: 6HH-R1337-00-00
O-rings: 93211-65800-00 (x2)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wear Ring Replacement
The new tool to remove the new 1-piece wear ring won't be available until the end of November/early December. In most cases the wear ring can be removed without the tool.
To remove, attach a set of vise-grips opposite the locating tab. While pulling with the vise-grips use screwdrivers to pry the liner past the two o-rings that hold the liner in the housing. See attached pics.

I have a question....just to be clear...
the OUTSIDE of the SS wear ring is costed? Not the inside correct? The pump housing is aluminum right?

I think that coating is to prevent galvanic corrosion. That coating needs to be maintained and not damaged. However, even with a perfect coating it will still take place when submerged especially in brine water. Anyone storing their machine in the water is likely to have major corrosion issues with the pump.
Is the pump coated?

I would think if you are upgrading from a 155 stator section to the new 160mm stator section, you'd also need a matching reduction nozzle to do it right?

So, if it can rotate slightly, not keyed in any way, what happens if say you do injest a rock, one that wedges between the impeller and ring. That woud spin the ring in the housing.
That may shred the coating, jam the ring and make it hell to get out?
I hope not but I think I'll wait and see how this works out in the real world before jumping into it.
Or is the clamping force of pump to shoe enough to prevent any chance of it spinning?
Just asking.
