How expensive is this going to be?

Yesterday a very good friend of mine put a hole in one of my skis when he banged it into the corner of my other one tied up to the dock. He immediately said whatever it costs he'd take care of don't even talk to your insurance. Here's the thing and correct me if I am wrong. Yamaha uses base coat / clear coat instead of gel coat. So while the hole cand be fixed and the paint blended the whole freaking deck will have to be cleared which will also means decals and possibly the mats.

Am I correct in my thinking? Click image for larger version.

A good shop should be able to fix and blend that without having to redo a large area. Not sure what prices are in your area, so I can't comment on that.

I am not trying to argue. I have an absolutely GREAT body guy who has done a couple of repairs for me after he was referred to me by friends who know I am an anal picky SOB. On a car or truck the oaint can be blended, the clear coat cannot be, you have to clear a whole panel. On the waverunner that panel is the upper deck. Why would a ski be different than a car?

Clear can be blended, it's typically easier and faster to do a whole panel on a car than blend the clear. That's a very small spot, can be done. Hopefully your body guy knows a bit about fiberglass and filler. Shouldn't be too difficult. Might need a new graphic on that side.
