Yamaha fzs sho rpm issues after et low boost wheel installation
Just install riva b2 wheel. Ski ran strong pulled hard to 8100+ for first 30 mins. Then noticed. It would pull hard off the line,,,rev to 8100 then fall on its face to 7000k. Let off throttle then it will rev back up to full speed for 2-3 seconds then fall to 7k. It repeated this cycle 4-5 times til i called it quits. Idles and sounds great on the trailer. Any body had this issue? Ran great all summer with stock sho wheel

Yeah, had same issue and even posted here. Everyone said it sounded like a clutch but took the Ski on holidays anyway, lasted less than a hour on the water after a few hard runs. Clutch and gear had to be replaced. That is 3 clutches now and just over 200 hours on the ski.
Cheers

A bad clutch can still reach full rpm? It reaches full power and rpm for a few seconds. Soo. Maybe it starts to slip under full boost?

Racelab tune 8600 rpm. 12 hrs on the tune. Was gettin full power for a good half hour of ridding after the et wheel install.

Sounds like the boost limiter is shutting the throttle when it over pressures. With the tune it should have the limiter removed, but I had a tuned ECU for several years that went bad and went back into stock mode. It showed to take the tune but would not. Got another tuned ECU and problem was solved. If you have a manual it tells the exact thing the engine will do under these circumstances...maybe not but I fought this last summer for about 3 months...

Is it possible for a clutch to bite on holeshot. But then slip at peak rpm?

Yes. That is the typically behavior when they start to go.
