    2001 Seadoo GTX DESS problem

I have a 2001 Seadoo GTX that randomly cuts off while riding. I pull the key off and replace it, and it starts right back up. I have found a couple other forum posts in here that suggest replacing the DESS post. Just wanted further verification that this is where I should start first. Is there anything else I should try and diagnose before purchasing a new DESS post? Thoughts?

Iíve had water in the stater housing do that. You can pull the glove box out and get the starter apart on that model. Itís tricky, but do-able.

go with the post replacement, it's 18 years old and I've seen them disconnect when hitting even a small wake more times then I can count. The reed switch embedded in the post gets wonky and the slightest shock makes the ski thin you pulled the key off.

so many that for a while I had to keep a couple of posts in stock so people could salvage their weekends "at the lake"

I found a used post on Ebay for $10. It will be here Friday, so it's worth a try. Thanks.
