    Lucky to be alive

Here we see a local moron giving lessons on how not to ride a ski.

I'd have to say the boat was going pretty darn fast too

Sure didn't look like the Waverunner was going very fast when he was hit. He had just completed a 180° turn and apparently didn't see the boat that hit him. Don't think a lower speed limit would have helped.

Wonder if the boat's prop got him.

I picked-up on that as well.

I live near this place. I think we all agree the skier was at fault. Yet being a boater myself too, I tend to default to dropping off-plane when there some level of unpredictability directly ahead - regardless of right-of-way.

yeah, famous last words. "I had the right of way"

when it come to courts its called "last clear chance ( to avoid an accident)

and the more powerful/maneuverable auto/craft is always at fault. ask anybody in motorcycle accident that wasn't hit squarely from the rear.

It's important to never make a statement declaring blame to police until you have retained an attorney in an accident.

We never got to the end story of that user with the yamaha that was run over by the other boat. I'll have to find that thread and bump it.

In this case the excess speed of the boater was an important factor to consider in applying blame.

While it _appears_ the pwc rider was at fault, the question is how_much_ fault goes to the boater who was traveling what in my view was an excessive speed for conditions which contributed to the severity of the incident.

that's why a good attorney is paramount to get what is considered a "fair" settlement in cases like this

Consider the boaters point of view if the damage from that "reckless jetskier" sunk his 200k craft.

I am always telling customers to beware of big boats that are on plane as the cone of viability is significantly reduced and at close range, you are invisible
