    SL900, good project or not?

    I came across a '96 SL900 for what seems like a good deal. Guy says the CDI is bad. Is there any way to bypass the CDI to crank these? The 900s don't seem to be very common, so if the engine is shot, how hard are parts to come by (vs. a 650/750/780, etc.)? Will a different series engine drop in if i can't readily find 900 parts? Finally, worst case, what's a good hull worth if i decide not to fix it?

    I've gotten somewhat familiar with an SL650. How closely are these related to the SL900? Engine, carbs, etc.

    the SL900 most likely need the update kit,

    does the ski crank?

    the 900 is easy to work on and parts are all over, update kits are around but pricey, the 900 is a great engine.

    I don't know. That was one of my questions, if there's a way to bypass the CDI to crank the engine if the CDI is completely dead.

    The sl hull is awesome...the domestic red 700/900/1050/1200s are awesome and reliable
    ....the 900 is quick and sounds good...worth the trouble for sure

    i just bought a sl 900 97 for few buck.....it will be my winter project next winter....and will fit perfectly beside my 97 sl 1050 wich i"m the original owner...
