    Wow con rod did a 180 and punched a hole in the oil pan? Or something int he hull nicked a hole in oil pan? Heard of the later happening when tools are left in hull... found anything lying under the engine that should t be there?

    Well it looks like the engine is toast!
    Stripped it down tonight and my intial diagnosis was right. piston 2 has failed and the rod has holed the block and sump.
    anyone in the uk got a good sho engine they want to sell??
    On the plus side the head looks ok, no cracks and just a few marks on cylinder 2 valves that should clean up.

    Thanks, have called a few places today who are going to look out for one for me.

    A few more pics from Monday evenings fun in the garage!
    Notice how the con rod has embedded itself in the oil pan, strange as the piston came right out of the cyldinder with a light tap so it was not seized. I wonder if the piston has failed where the con rod connects and left a big flapping mess .
