    Supercharger issue

Looks like the gear got way too hot. Anyone seen this before or know what might cause it? Supercharger was rebuilt with OEM kit with only 15 minutes on it.

I would suspect a lack of lubrication. Other causes, like tight clearance with the drive gear don't really seam plausible. Does the supercharger spin freely when out of the engine?

Yes spins freely, could having the wrong flywheel 185 vs 215 cause this?

The flywheels/charger gears are different i believe. But im not sure if you could mix them up easily or of the charger just wouldnt bolt up. Im sure someone on here knows.

Possibly already blue like that from the hardening process? RR

I beleive blue is from extreme heat. That don't come like that.

And yes the 185 is a 17 tooth SC gear with a 88/86 tooth flywheel whereas the 215 and 255/260s use a 16 SC gear and a 87/86 tooth flywheel. I think I got that right.

Its def from extreme heat that is why I suggested possibly hardening process. Never really paid that much attention to the gears when I r&r my charger. If its getting that hot its cooking the oil around it or either there isn't any. RR
