    Another VXR impeller thread

At the end of last season I had my '16 VXR running beautifully..constantly hitting 68 even at times 69. I had it tweaked almost perfectly with just about every available mod I could possibly do..except a tune. So what did I do this year? You guessed it, bit the bullet, got a great deal on a Dean's tune, and went for it. I also installed a skat 14/16 prop. I was running 7900-7920 before the tune, after, with the prop, 8250...but lost 2 mph...huh? So I'm figuring out my options here...go with a solas 11/15, which I've seen mixed reviews on. Have the Skat Repitched, or go totally the opposite way, drop the rpms, and throw on a Dynafly 14/20 or similar. The ski had a Concord 11/19 when I replaced it, but it was all chewed up...but gave me my 68-69. I know there's a bunch of prop threads on the VXR, has anyone out there tried a higher pitch with success?

Our best results have been 72 with the 11/15 at 8400 rpm

You haven’t popped any extra air intake holes yet? ksalles (very knowledgeable poster here) cut a few holes in the front of the seat tab. He emphasizes that increasing the air to the 1.8L n/a engines was crucial to get RPMs up. I’m going the side cowling scoops route, re-routing the hoses to the K&N filter.

Also, ksalles tested out the smaller nozzle from an 09-13 FZR, which provided additional top speed gains and less cavitation.

Lastly, I’ve been told a 2 deg pump wedge will absolutely add 1-1.5 mph.

I’ll be testing these mods on my VXR in a month or so. I’ve been able to hit 66.5 mph reliably (the occasional 67.0) with all the other bolt-ons. A tune and prop will be considered next.

Plenty of ventilation, plenty of RPMs, just not transferring to speed. Was thinking about going back to a taller prop or a smaller pump nozzle..the 83mm off the fzr

Taller prop and smaller nozzle are absolutely where the speed is in the vxr's. You're moving in the right direction. Target rpm 8,000. Anything over has been useless for me.

I hear ya, I hit full speed at 3/4 and get nothing after that. I have a 14/16 skat, thinking about going up to a 13-14/18 I'm going to see where I am after the nozzle
