    Rough 1997 Polaris sl1050

I bought this project at the end of june for 1100 without trailer and half a tank of 1 year old 94 gas. A 1997 polaris sl1050 with trim. It has cracked bumpers and a hairline crack in the upper fiberglass hull. I plan to fix the crack and gel coat but might of found a virage tx for a winter project. The previous owner says he has owner ship in his email and will send it. I have yet to recive the owner ship and asked him to print out. I got it registed in my name for now.i started off by building my self 9 x 3 ft steel cart with 6 castor wheels. The mfd says 16h but the previous owner says there is more than that. When i looked at cdi i did not see a com port to pull the true hours. I belive this is a orginal stator and cdi. The Psi is 120,90,120 and i think center should be 95. First discovery was a chipped reed vavle. I was gonna get tdr reeds but went to a local shop for quick acess. I ended up finding a set of boyesen power reeds for 130. Boyesen claims they provides better take off .I cleaned ,rebuilt the carbs, fuel pumps with a non oem kit.the carbs where not set at 7/8 . Next replaced the grey fuel lines with Gates 27313 1/4" x 25' 50 PSI Barricade Reel Fuel Line. The fuel selector leaks so i got a metal ball valve inline one. Cleaned out gas tank, bottom was clean other than floatys. Went on to inspect the mpem wiring and it has the Orange wire bypassed with loose crimps. I recrimped them and check all connetion are tight. Replaced spark plugs with new ngk.It starts up and idels good a reved up pretty smooth. There is a parisitic draw or old battery but it charges. Went on to inspect the pump and it is in rough shape. Had some seaweed stuck to it. I noticed the prop was mangled on a inside edge and the drive shaft was welded to the prop. My guess is that it sucked something up and broke the prop off. The wear ring looks a little scraped up And stator is chewing away. The prop has a tight 0.5 clearence on outter edge of prop and .25 on inner. In the manual it say 0.5 is service time. I think the pump wedge was taken out. I looking to buy a prop, drive shaft, wear ring , 6 vane stator. I just need some feed back on what i should buy and if you have any for sale. Will a 6 vane fit from the newer models. I dont know how to determine ride plate to to see if i should upgrade. Taking it out this weekend to see how the bad prop and aftermarket carb build goes. I will provide a update.

Not very rough, that black sticker on the front fades in like 30 hours of use. After 22 years, I would think it needs some work , worst part is the previous mechanic.

Engine needs a new center rings...90 psi is done. You want at least 125

I was just looking into this. The compression is supposed to be 125,90,125.
It might be the cheap amazon psi gauge, tired motor, old batery, lack of oil. The battery that i was using was old and i had to buy a new one for no spark reason.i pulled the plugs and got spark probly because the strain off the motor.tried charging the battery over night on 1 amp when i usually do 24h and go no spark gain untill a fog of gas was out of the exaust. With the brand new battery it spins the engine faster and starts again with a little whit smoke from flooding. lower octane fuel is better for lower compression engines. Im running 91 octane when the manual suggest 90 or oxygenated fuel.from the description on the webb for oxygenated fuel is ethanol gas. at first i was convinced to run high octane for the grey lines and thought it could take higher octane than the manual said. From My research the domestic 1050 dose Not gain enought from higher compression rebuild. The lower psi in my engine may perfer the ethanol based stuff and should be safe with the new fuel lines.
