I hope you bring her back to glory, it's in pretty good shape I'd love to have that as a spare...the sl1050 was a unique machine and so fun...I'm in love with mine.

I have a 6 vane and 99 slx carbs and it runs very well....this winter I'm building a 1200 for a swap so I will just have all the spare 1050 stuff for another sl1050 when I find one

    One for the nut book

    Howdy hulks.

Today i went in to take off the base nuts on cen without the base nut tool or crows foot.

The wrenches i used where cheap sae grip wrenches from pa and only 14 mill fit slightly loose.

a 13 mill stubby box end and a 1/2 ratchet for the rear .

a swiveling socket to get the fronts.

This should save some hulks headaches .

Found my center to be missing the skirt on both sides where the rod meets.

Looking for a oem cen piston rod bearing set.

Going to pull the engine and do a full crank rebuild.

    13mm wrench wouldn’t fit?

I read piston skirt damage is caused by water ,fuel, object in the cylinder. My connecting rod don't look bent but feel the need to replace or pull and measure.

there is ZERO chance id use that crank, there is way to much piston material gone threw that engine....could you, sure...will it blow apart shortly after and likely explode the case almost for sure.

That damage is pretty easy to asses...lack of compression and the skirt grabs a port and there you have it....anything close to 100 psi is junk on these domestics and here is why

    Post Crank

Im want to inspect, clean, replace crank bearings . might just send it off to get rebuilt. If i can sell the two good cylinders i will be able to do a big bore. I don't know if i should get a feel for oem config first or find someones to ride.
