    2004 MSX 140 - no start

    New battery. New starter solenoid.

No spark, no crank, no gauges.

Have checked all 3 fuses and they all have continuity across them. Checked start/stop - no apparent issues with it.

What should i look look for next?

No cranking suggests a missing wire, or bad connection somewhere.

FYI the MSX140 does not have a start/stop module, not sure if you were referring to the switches themselves though (which of course it has )

    Yes, I meant the switches.

Forgot to mention, my brother was helping with the battery. Heard the dreaded “pop” of metal grounding. But all 3 fuses are good. Is there another somewhere?

on the solenoid, I have left post going to starter. Right post to battery positive, plus another small ring terminal to the wiring harness. Is that correct?

Did shorting the battery ruin it? Check battery voltage.

The small ring terminal should be on the same side as the positive battery cable. Pull the small wire connector out of the bottom of the solenoid and make sure the contacts are clean. Put it back in and wiggle it while trying to start the engine. When you have it running again put dielectric grease on the connector.

If you jump across the studs of the starter solenoid with something, like a channel lock or pliers, does it turn over?

have a brand new battery in it now, and charged it over night with a new charger. Battery problems are likely eliminated.

I’ll check the wires you mentioned. I do have the small wire in the same side as the battery positive wire.

Where does the small wire wire go to? I had to replace that ring terminal, so that could be a suspect.
