Strange problem!
New here but have been lurking for a while now. I have a 2000 slx and just yesterday I noticed that when I shut the ski off the bilge continues to run and the trim still works. The display shows 0 for mph and 0 for rpms. It is as though the computer thinks the ski is still running eventhough it is shut down. I cracked the electrical box and it is bone dry. Any ideas? Thanks, and i love your site!

Leave it sit for 10 min. and check it then. I believe the MFD will go into "sleep" mode, maybe the trim and bilge will too? Try it.

If it is the voltage regulator does it need to be replaced? Where is it located? By the way the ski still runs great.

Yes, your voltage regulator is shot.

Bummer, will it hurt the ski to run it with a bad regulator? I am not too happy about getting into the electrical box, its such a mess.

Just get in there and replace it before it takes something else out. Your battery is going to continue to drain down, and your bilge is gonna take a beating.
Getting into the elec. box and replacing the part will only take you about half an hour.
I tell you what.....I'll replace your VR if you come and replace my trim motor, remove my pipes for new hoses, and install a new head

Since you put it that way, I guess the VR isn't quite so bad. Good luck.
