    GP1800R impeller weirdness?

I only have 6 hours on my GP1800R but im getting what feels like impeller problem. Iíll be riding and then the ski has harsh vibrations above 4K rpm. I shut the motor down and restart and it usually goes away. Today I was riding and started feeling it again. I thought something stuck, so restarted a few times and no dice.

This time Hard vibrations after around 3k. Tried getting up on plane and Iím not getting the speed I should. 5K to 6k briefly sounds really bad and like the ski is struggling to get up to speed. I parked on the jet dock and in the back, only some minor weeds and a small piece of cloth that I pulled out with a screw driver. Stator looked good and impeller looked good but hard to evaluate because the impeller fins are so damn close to the actual housing.

should I put it up on the lift and look under the intake grate? Can I see the back of the impeller from there? Please advise.

Looking (with a good light) into the intake grate for the jet pump, you would be able to see the front of the impeller.

If there is debris caught in the jet pump/impeller it can cause the cavitation symptoms you are describing.

a simple thread of clear fishing line can cause this...clean the shaft and prop.

Thanks guys. I put it on the lift today and it was just a bunch of stupid florida weeds stuck in the intake grate. Prop was clear on both sides, but the intake grate was properly stuffed, which is why I was getting heavy cavitation and not proper speed/acceleration.
As I mentioned before, I have felt this before but I can usually get unclogged by just restarting the motor a few times as per the manual. So I guess for whatever reason, the intake grate on this particular ski is prone to collecting debris.

if your riding with another ski , put the ski's tail to tail and nail the throttle , the water jet will usually clear the other ski out.

FL rider here... the pine-needle like seaweed here will get bunched-up in the intake really easy. Once it does, its usually locked in there. I never had much success OTHER than diving over board (engine off) reaching under and grabbing a fist full away from the grate.
Try to avoid these floating islands of weeds if you can. If you have too hit some, prepare to go WOT through it and hope it just "processes" through.
You're on the water to have a good time and get wet. Take 15secs to jump over clear the clog and re-board.

Yes that's no big deal, I just thought it was something more serious. I just traded in an RXP-X 300 and RXT-X 300 so I'm just not used to reliability. Honestly.
