Has anyone found Nicks in the Bendex starter. WHY???

Not sure what would cause these nicks. Something must be loose inside and bouncing around. Further exploratory surgery appears to be required. Has anyone seen this before. All help greatly appreciated. Screen has metal on it. I found the thrust washer but not the two spring washers.

    Previous Supercharger failure possibly?

    OK
I am thinking of doing a complete teardown to inspect everything and avoid having to more problems down the "lake". I suppose I should start with a leak down test. Supercharger was supposedly rebuilt but if I do a complete overhaul that is getting rebuilt as well.

it's pretty much a given you're going to have some pain/ lay the oil filter out like an autopsy and see what's actually in there as far as metal shavings.

    hint: less may be cheaper

    crank and head damage possible

oil pump condition will be the biggest clue
