    Polaris??

Hey everyone i am new here and new to PWC. I just recently acquired a 1996 Polaris and a arctic cat. previous idiot has removed all stickers and repainted the Polaris an ugly yellow. If anyone could help me out with what model this is it would be greatly appreciated. I know the engine is a blue 3cyl.

    Welcome to GH.

Post up a pic... that will help.

Last 2 digits of HIN are the year. Blue engines are 650, 750 or 780. 650 and 750 say "650" or "750" on the rail that runs across the top of the 3 heads. A 780 just says "Polaris" on it.

    A 2 seater (no reverse) will be: SL650, SL750, SL780, SLX (performance 780 model)
    A 3 seater (has reverse) will be: SLT750, SLT780
There is a Pro 785 2-seater that has triple pipes in it (rare)

    Cheers!

As far as jet skis go is this a decent ski? I will need an electrical box to fix it right but I have jumped the starter and other components to start it. I have had it running and it idles smooth and clean, revs up nice.

The sl750 and 780 are some of the most playful skis out there.

Super fun solo ski. While a 2-seater... it's very tipsy with 2 on it. I've watched many a folks roll it trying (good fun)! I prefer the SLT 3-seater models which are a little less tossable (can still slide out backend)... but much more stable especially with 2 on it... and can legally tow a tube.

Good ski and good engine otherwise. Just depends on what you want do do with your ski.

If your keeping it... plan to clean/rebuild carbs... and rebuild the fuel pump. Check your oil lines (oil pump is solid, lines need inspected)... check your fuel lines. Check the jet pump for smooth impeller spinning and no water under the cone.

    Cheers!

This was my experience exactly, fun by yourself, not fun with anyone else on it.
