'95 SL650, ok to run with jet pump disconnected?

I'm working on the carbs now and have the jet pump rebuild kit on the way. Is it ok to run the engine to tune the carbs with the jet pump disconnected?

Absolutely. Make sure to remove the driveshaft.

You can then run the engine on the garden hose like this. The reason we suggest running the engine for short periods of time is because the driveshaft bushing and jet pump bearings can get too hot. With the driveshaft and pump removed that is no longer an issue.

Just be aware, you cannot "tune the carbs" while running on land though. The ski needs to be in the water to have a load on the engine.
