2003 sportster 4 tec eng light

Looking for help on a 2003 sea doo sportster 4 tec engine. Just replaced engine brand new and getting engine light at 4000 rpm and higher. Oil levels good, coolant level is good, everything is plugged in have no access to a reader! Any help is greatly appreciated.

you need a reader. thanks seadoo.

in all seriousness if you have to shoot blindly the oil pressure sensors on early model engines wear out and throw fake signals, that's would be my first shot assuming all connectors and such are in the right places, the battery is charging and the exhaust sensor isn't melting from lack of water. They are cheap enough if you're isolated

on a new engine, if you have access to an oil pressure gauge, you'll want to do so. perhaps the oil pressure relief valve wasn't properly installed. While warranties cover mistakes, they never cover labor

you can stop guessing and buy a candoo code scanner/keywriter/all around tech weapon for $400 at the GH store(links above) You can thank them after perhaps you lose your last key and can make a new one easily. Just buy it. You likely dropped 2k on that motor

before you address a speed issue, you want to resolve the check engine issue

and welcome aboard GH. You'll find enough info on the issue for an afternoons read.

f you opt to sell the reader after your problem is resolved the going rate is $400, less $100 for every VIN # you've used, so you can get out of the problem and make a couple of keys for $100 or so.

    now that's a deal isn't it?

Finally had some time to look into this, the brand new engine I bought from SBT the timing chain has broke, still have not received CandooPro pro tool to find out what the fault was or if it was related. Anyone else had trouble with SBT products?

so you went to "can't do over 35knts"

    to

    "broken timing chain?"

by any chance did you reuse the flywheel bolts?

or was that a complete boxed engine...

in any case pack it up and ship it back to SBT for a brand new(er) one

Id be interested in the candoo once you're done with it and if you want to sell!
