Polaris must of had a reason for it to be there. Aluminum plates are a great heat sink. Does the LR module need a sink? Thinking out loud.

There is a rivet holding the BL/Y lugs to the board. Nothing else is below. The aluminum plate would have to be against it (sandwiched) to ground/short it.

With the plate held away, the BL/Y lugs are showing a connection to ground.

Anyone have a '99 SLTX and could snap a pic of the inside of the front box? I'd love to see how it's "supposed" to be laid out.

I'd also like to SEE it.
Take a picture of the bottom of the board.

Worked on the SLTX last night, pulled the aluminum plate off and cleaned the board (well, parts of it). when measuring from the BL/Y post to the BL (and other ) posts, got no continuity, YAY.

Re-assembled everything, using the plate (the plate has a captured nut for mounting the LR module) making sure the plate is spaced from the board via nylon (or, some kind of rubber-ish line) spacers between the AL plate and the board. And,,, I get continuity again, crap.

Pulled the 2 BL/Y lines from the board, bridged them together, insulated them well and buttoned it up.

Taking to the lake tomorrow to test runnability.

My apologies, I neglected to get pics of the bottom of the board (no excuses, just failed to get them).

Thank you all for the help on this. I'll report how she runs in water.

Small update (late, but an update nonetheless).

Boat started and ran very well. Tested under load and pulled hard.
But (there is always a but), there is a "funny noise". Sounds like the starter/bendix is staying engaged (Ring/Ching-ing noise from the front of the engine while idling). We have access to another polaris triple (SLT750) and it doesn't make this noise.

Pulled it back out, brought it home and parked it. Installing a lift in my garage addition and haven't found time to look into it yet.
The PO did the stator update and I guess I need to verify the install was done correctly. make sure nothing is hanging up.

Does this model have an external (mounted outside the electrical box) start solenoid?

If yes, is it the original type with riveted metal backing plate?

It does have the external start solenoid, I will check to see if it has the metal plate.
Assuming the metal plate one is bad? Could be sticking??

External solenoid, Brown with metal plate.

Will order a replacement and test.
Any suggestions on the best source for the part?

Small update. ordered the Sea-Doo solenoid, starter doesn't seem to be "hanging up" anymore.
Ran the boat in the water (on the trailer) Saturday. Starts and runs well, up to @ 5500 RPM, pulls hard. Drop to idle and throttles back up well.
Untill,, If let to idle for more than 5 seconds, Falls on its face, needs choke to throttle up. Thinking the low speed screw needs to come out a bit (thinking 1/8th to 1/4 turn). Set tall 3 carbs to 1.5 turns out when I had them all off.

    Thoughts/suggestions?

How do I make sure all 3 are tuned the same?
