1997 Polaris SLT 780
Having issues with jet ski. Replaced fuel pump to see if problem would change but doesn’t. Problem is that my jet ski would run smooth and then start to lag behind after a short while if I stop or slow down. Won’t pick back up unless I may hit a bigger wave at a low speed then picks back up. Seems to get stuck in a “low gear” and not escape. Another issue that I noticed that my ski puts out a crazy amount of fluid in the water when I finish my ride; the water will turn to rainbows and fog. All fuel lines are recent. Run machine with recreational gas only. Just want the performance of my jet ski back to original. Any help?

Welcome to the Hulk.
Rainbow colors in water is oil or gas. Most likely coming out of your exhaust. Meaning you're not burning it fully.
When your ski is acting up, remove the seat and feel all 3 cylinders. Are they all warm? If 1 is noticeably cooler, it's not firing and most likely just dumping unburned gas/oil out the exhaust.
You may be losing spark, or have a broken reed or something like that.
Figure out which cylinder is not operating properly first, and we can try to figure what it's not doing.

I had the same issue last year. it ended up being a float valve was sticking. Sometimes when I hit a big wave it would jar it enough to open up and take off. Take off your air filter and look down the carbs to identify which one is not getting gas when you open up the throttle. When you identify the carb you can take off the diaphragm cover and usually clean the float valve with some carb cleaner without taking the carbs off.

That O ring should be making the seal.
What was the direct source of the leak?
