    2002 xlt 800 won’t go over 30 mph

I have a 2002 Yamaha xlt 800 with 98 hours. It dropped a power valve a couple of summers ago and I rebuilt the top end of it then. Both cylinders have 120 lbs. I have rebuilt the carburetor twice using the service manual settings. It will start and run with the choke out 1/4 of the way but will not get over 30 mph or so. What do I need to check from here to see what is wrong with it now and get it back up and running?

If you have to run it with the choke partially applied then you need to rebuild your carbs. Do not run it until you get your carbs corrected.
