GP1800 or Yamaha 1.8L aftermarket cam? Or grind current unit?

I searched but really couldn't find anything on performance info via the webcam profile (not sure if they will grind a stock one, not sure if stock is strong enough to be ground)...

Not sure if I can justify dropping 1500+ on a set of cams unless there's a pretty noticeable increase in performance.

Who here has done it...beyond the butt dyno, what say your gps'

I'm looking into doing VXR cams on my GP when I do the retainers. Ive been workin with Deans on my build and this is his recommendation.

I had my stock 2016 SVHO cams reground. I have two 2016 skis. I sent both sets to R&D, not sure who did the regrind.

I run the RC-2 and RC-3 grinds. The RC-3 are in a ski with a Motec, that is not on the water yet.

The RC-2's are on a ski using Maptuner.

The cams will act very different depending on the LSA you install them at. The smaller the LSA the more the overlap. The more overlap the higher rpm the motor will spin to aka more boost, so have your internals in order first.

Be prepared to tune and tune more. I spent the last two summers tuning the RC-2 on my Stage 3 FX Cruiser and went 95 mph near full weight. The cams make big power, I run a F2, 19 psi wheel and pump gas, with octane boost.

Big cams make big power, but they are a lot of hard work also. Big increase in power across the rpm range.

The VXR cam upgrade is small and easy to tune to both Dean and Jesus have Stage 3 tune up. The VXR cams are very mild compared to the RC-2 and RC-3.
