    bolts reuse

    Hi,

After each 4tec engine disassembly, which bolts can be changed by new for assembly ?

I have read that head, rocker and flywheel bolts can be changed by new.

Main cranckase and conrods bolts can be changed also by new ?

What bolt you recommand ? Oem or arp ?

    Best Regards

Do not reuse (these are stretch bolts): head bolts, rocker bolts, connecting rod bolts

ARP: head bolts (studs), flywheel bolts

    Thanks for the reply

So the main studs of crankcase (M10 bolts) can be reused ?

All arp bolts can be reused after disassembly ? head bolts and flywheel ?

Main case bolts can be reused
Yes, ARP head and flywheel bolts can be reused..

OEM Rod bolts, flywheel, rocker & head bolts are stretch bolts and need to be replaced DO NOT REUSE!

Flywheel are not stretch bolts, they're just not strong enough on the 4tecs. BRP now uses the stronger 12.9 bolts so you just have to hope they're torqued correctly

Please lookup past threads on reusing the tty bolts as we have discussed this a great deal. I ordered all new head and and cam bolts but found that some of the new stretch bolts would not spec properly and had to reuse a few old bolts. About 25% of the new bolts I received felt very "spongy" and did not have the right feel while setting. Many are scared to reuse tty bolts and may think you are being cheap or running a great risk, but I use whatever bolts work regardless of new or used as long as they are within spec. If a new or used bolt does not spec out I will not install it on my machine.
