2010 Seadoo 155hp speedster should I buy it?
Hey Guys! New here, and new to boating in general. Thinking of buying a "project" its a 2010 Speedster 155hp the nephew is selling the boat for his uncle. So I have been getting very little information about the speedster, all I know is that it needs an engine. I have not seen it as it is 1 hour away, but I wanted to pick your brains a bit to see if its worth buying or if its crap.
Owner wants $2,600 for it, I offered $2,000 and he didnt accept.
From little I have read online that this engine is the same as the jet ski rxp engine. Im assuming its the non supercharged version and that they are pretty much bullet proof minus a valve issue. I am thinking maybe this is the case with this speedster. Maybe it just needs a valve or two replaced, with a new head gasket and she should be fine to be put back in the water. I have seen videos on youtube and it doesnt look all too difficult. Worst case it needs a complete new engine, and not sure how much used those run.
Saying its been neglected is to say the least, from the pics it appears nobody has tried to remove the engine. Looks like they only removed the plugs.

come back with a new and in my opinion a very generous offer:
$1200
boat looks to need about 5k of work to bring it up to book value.
trim parts aren't available for the most part and it has clearly been neglected. One look at the place its stored tells me alot.
you'd be better off spending 6k on a boat you can put right into the water and enjoy
do you really want to spend months restoring that POS?
oh yeah, welcome aboard GH

They should be paying you to haul that crap away, its worth nothing. Looks like it had a fire and was striiped of anything of value.
Walk away, no run away!

By the looks of the engine compartment it almost looks like it sank! Hard to believe how neglected it has been in 9 years.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your feedback!
I had a suspicions from the pics, that it sank aswell. But figured jet boats were like jet skis's and that they can just be cleaned off if they sank.

I got mine with fried ecu, ripped seats and 28 hours on the display for $1K. And it looks 100 times in better condition than that titanic they are trying to lay on you. That's been sitting with water up to valve cover for quite some time. Provably due to leaving drain plugs on and rain water accumulating. The lack of white rust leads me to believe it was fresh water.
But yeahhh run away. Too much work.
