    Fix, cover, or replace seat???

    Hi guys.

My sea doo seat on my 1997 GSI has split. As you can see from the picture, there is a valley in the foam. I'm wondering, should I try to find a replacement seat, which is rare for this model on ebay, and expensive, or should I fix this one? If I just cover what is there, it'll eventually degrade the seat in this area. Has anyone tried like a spray foam filler, then trim it flush, then put a cover on it? Thoughts would be appreciated!!

Also, do any of you have an opinion on what brand seat cover to get?

    Have you read this? http://greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8572

I just replaced a seat cover on a seat that was like that. It had duct tape on the tear and it did show through a little bit. I was getting the 'Ski ready for sale and wasn't too concerned about what it would look like in a few years. You could probably fill the split with regular upholstery foam, then cover with tape before installing the cover.

Using a good staple gun and proper staples is very important! I did one years ago with a hardware store staple gun and stainless staples and it was difficult, at best. I bought a gun similar to the one mentioned in the above thread on Ebay from seller drfsupply. They have staples, too.

Got my cover on Ebay, seller tskinz.

Thanks Steve. Yea, I probably will end up selling the 97 GSI soon. Dragging it to the lake this weekend, as it is the only other ski that is running at the moment!! Sucks trying to ride it with a bathing suit as it is, because it pinches ya while riding! I'll throw a towel over it for now! But I think I'll try to fill, duct tape it and then recover.

I think that for best results, you need to do it when it's warm. Stretch the material before stapling. I think mine was a little cool, allowing small wrinkles to form when it got hot.
