    ever year if possible

    two years at the most

it's a good idea to grease the splines on the driveshaft that go into the pump also

I pull mine out for the winter. Then before the season I go through it, I check the impeller to wear ring clearance as well. I am right at .007" this year. Lost a thou from last year, oh well. Then in the middle of the season I take it out and take it apart and inspect. Seals are known to leak by. When water enters the bearing housing say bye bye, esp salt water. Ask me how I know.
