    Key replacement question

I have a 2017 rxt260 and need a replacement regular key. The ski has a mail order tune. If I bring the ski to the dealer to have the key replaced, is it going to mess up the tune?

It's possible they will update the ecu which will wipe the tune.
Your best solution is to use the CandooPro home diagnostic system to activate a new key on the ski.

if that's too steep you can try some smaller ski shops in your area, one of them may have the candoo and will code a key for under $100 + the cost of the key, they can be had for around $40 for aftermarkets.

    or

if you ride with a group, you can typically spread the cost among three others who would like to have the ability to read codes, reset service nags and make keys.

you get lic for 4 skis with the home version of the candoo.

so membership in your "i got me a candoo" club would be $100 a ski.

btw, i get $50 to reset a nag/provide code reads if I didn't do the work.

it adds up faster then you think

I don't think that was the question.

I don’t think you saw Jerry’s answer which, as always, was on point

It would contribute nothing for me to repeat info the forum owner has posted

My post was to let the op know the specifics of cost when spending $400 on a candoo to keep a tune in place when the dealer could easily overwrite it just by hooking up buds

You will have no problem, BUDS doesn’t detect mod maps on flash file, and you can leave a note to not update the ECU

I was under the impression that updates were applied automagically when an update was available

No, BUDS does not automatically apply an update. It will let you know update is available.

Most dealers do not even know how to properly use there BUDS system or what it is capable of.
