    Black Residue after 10 hours.

I was checking my oil today at the 10 hour mark and discovered a dirty black powder over the engine area, like coal dust. My engine always looked clean when Iíd checked it before, any idea if this is not normal, or what it is? Ski ran fine no unusual indications.

So it appears the black stuff is coming from the driveshaft. Is this okay? I ran it again on the hose and everything seems normal.

How long are you running your ski on hose, that looks like carbon ring dust, is your ski under warranty?

It’s brand new under warranty. I ran it on hose for 30 seconds.

Maybe it's the angle but that carbon seal looks very thin. The angled part should be thicker, looks severely worn to me.

Take that thing back to the dealer, there should be no dust of any kind in a new ski.

Is it safe to run for another day? I have an outing planned for tomorrow.

I am beginning to regret buying a Sea Doo.

Your carbon ring is worn out ! This happened to me on my 18 TX after 47 hrs. People will say that the engine/pump alignment is off but in my case it was just a defective soft carbon ring that wears quickly.

You can run it. Just change out the carbon ring when you can. Do it yourself if you are mechanical. Not worth having the ski sit at the dealer for several weeks waiting for repair.
