Summer start up - don't forget new plugs!!!
The daughter needed some pictures for a school project and thought involving the skis would be fun.
So we went down to do de-winterizing last night.
Two of the three skis started up fine. The third had a dead battery. No problem, I keep 2 in stock.
But then after getting it running it would not go above 4000 rpm. Disconnected the MFI...same.
It would rev higher out of the water, so that sparked a thought...fouled?
New plugs gapped and in...runs like it should.
Don't forget the easy/simple stuff!

Good advice. Or just get a DI, that ignition system can probably spark through solid rock

I think the manual says to change spark plugs every 100 hrs but I find that my plugs usually start to play up before that..

Spark plugs are cheap insurance.
Make sure to remember the DRAIN plug!!!!
Ramps are a fun place to be at the beginning of the season.
Backing trailer up arguments, backing vehicle up too far into the water, and of course, the forgot the drain plug. DOH!!!!

What's a ramp?
My skis stay on the dock unless they need surgery.

I never replace the spark plugs, just inspect them. Here in the frozen tundra, the season is so short we never get enough hours on spark plugs to wear them out! 100 hours on the Hobbs is about typical for a 2003/2004 Polaris watercraft here. I just picked up a dead 2002 Virage i for this winter's project last week. The EMM reported just over 100 hours on the engine.
