On the topic of ignition, I have an extra CDI box I would sell you if you need. Tested and gives spark on all three plugs. Have not water tested it however

After exchanging messages with SeawardToast I am going to open up the CDI box to take a look at the condition. I've never opened it to inspect it. I'll post some pics once I get it open. Hopefully I'll have time this weekend.

I actually just got around to opening the CDI box this past Saturday. It is dry inside and appears to be in perfect condition. I don't know what the rough white stuff is though. It looks almost like bits of glass?

I haven't had much time to ride it unfortunately. I did take it out for about an hour this past Saturday. It seems to be running perfectly. I took a pic of the plugs after the ride. Cylinder one has a lot more crude on it than the other two cylinders. The center of the plugs do look similar though. I am still running 50:1 in the tank. Maybe that is the cause of the oil/crude buildup? The cylinder two plug looks different because it is newer than the other two plugs. I meant to install a new set of plugs to get a better reading but I forgot to do that before I got on the water. If I get to ride it again before the season ends I will do that. I still have about 10 gallons of 50:1 mix to burn through. After that I will go back to running one ounce of oil for every gallon just to give it a bit more lubrication than stock. That is what most people in this thread have recommended.

Is it normal for the CDI to have that glass looking material imbedded in the epoxy/silicone that seals the CDI when it is manufactured?

There are no signs of water intrusion or corrosion inside the CDI that I can see. The odd glass material that is imbedded in the epoxy type material does seem odd but that might be the way it is manufactured for whatever reason?

Is that white glass looking material normal?

This is what mine look like, they've been in for 18 months(but have sat since march this year, so no running in 7 months) and ran hard as by the kids. This engine was rebuilt about 24 months ago, probably has about 8 days on it but thrashed on those days. starts up quickly and hauls ass. The Kawasaki Ski dealer said mine look good and he wouldnt change them but still advised to as part of service.
I believe my other STX-R i owned looked about the same.

I actually decided to start mine today, as its getting warmer here in NZ, lots of smoke, i guess because its been sitting so long, the old 2 stroke boat used to do it aswell, couldnt run for more than 10seconds as had no water so shut it off and will take it up to the lake over next month an give her a belting to clear it out.
