Friend visiting - max weight and what to expect

I have a 2018 GTX 230 with max weight of 602 lbs. I have only riden by myself so far. I have no problems by myself as the ski is easy to handle.

Now the friend that is visiting has put on a lot of weight. I guess he weighs 250 lbs. He want me to take him and his son out on the Seadoo. Ugh - the son only weighs 70 - 80 lbs. and I weight 190. We will have approx 15 lbs of stuff.

What kind of issues do you think I will have? Top factory speed with just me is 70mph. How much speed will I lose with 350 more lbs. Will the ski handle the extra weight?

I just took out 3 people total and gear on my 2019 GTX 230 total was around 540 lbs. Had no power issues but I also wasn't going over 45 out of safety and conditions. This was out in the ocean. Stop worrying and have fun

Glenozzy hit it on the head. Review the rollover procedures in your owner's manual. That is the only concern. The ski will go faster than your riders will be comfortable.

With that extra side to side motion try to get them to lean with you and also expect the footwells to fill up from time to time.

I will be just over 575 total weight. And also plan to take a tour of the ocean. I will be going out thru a semi narly inlet.

I do not believe I will need to worry about a rollover...2018 ST3 hull is kinda stable. Or will a rollover be a concern even if I take it easy. 45 mph probably will be max max speed also.

roll over is only an issue standing still or very slow. If you coach your passengers up you will be fine.

If that 250 guy falls off, he'll catch h*ll getting back on in deep water.

He should be fine with the re-boarding step. Gnarly inlet? Stuff it in sport mode and tell them to hold on.
