    2019 model GTX230.

I guess the cam is a possibility, it would not be good for sales if the power was close to the the 300

I know the 300 1630 Engine is bored and stroked, with a maintenance free supercharger.
The new 230 HP engine, is a 1503 also with a maintenance free charger, & is optimized to run on 87octane.
My understanding is the 230 can run on 87, but is optimised for 91. I would not run 87 in any turbo/super changed engine

The manual says the compression ratio is only 8.4:1 on the gtr-x...should be fine running 87 octane, no?
I hope it is lol, premium is $1.60 a liter here

230 is rated from BRP to use 87 octane. A flash and premium gas should turn it into a "260".

Yamaha SHO is also rated to use 87 octane.

It would if it had a 260 cam. Seems pretty much everything from '08 155's to '17 300's had a 51 cam. Not these 230's. I did the flash and gas....$900 for about 1 mph. Dropped in an Eastside regrind and got at least 400 rpm and was all over the rev limiter. AFR's were way lean and ran out of weather to get it dialed in. Think even a 51 cam would be an improvement over the stock one.

So they changed the cams hmm still not bad, you can pickup a used 51 cam on ebay shipped for less than $100

I totally agree. A 51 cam would be a cheap upgrade but if you're doing a cam change make it worth while.

It would be worthwhile, IF Jesus made a few GOOD tunes for the 230.

    Stock wheel 51 cam
    Stock wheel aggressive cam
And the same with bigger wheels, injectors and cooler.

The stock 04’ -05’ 29 cams were better than the 51 cams

I hear ya. Still have 2 more of his tunes to try as soon as I can get back out.(very soon hopefully). Would think after a cam change everything else would be a 260 tune which I think he has plenty of. Priorities are most likely on the 300 stuff.
