Repairing Mirrors
Rear view mirrors seem to be a weak point on Kawasakis, at least on the older ones. I pulled the cover off of my Ultra 150 one day to find the mirror laying in the footwell. Don't know if someone had messed with it, or it just got old. I recently purchased an STX-15F that also had a broken mirror. Kawasaki doesn't make parts available for the mirrors, but you can fix them.
On both of mine, the splined 'star' broke (shown by arrow).
There is a spherical piece that slides onto the spline and is secured by a screw. The sphere allows you to move the mirror in any direction. The sphere doesn't have to be secured with a screw. I carefully epoxied the spline back together, trying too be careful not to get excess epoxy on the assembly. After the epoxy dries, slide the sphere on all the way, then glue it with more epoxy.
I tried to spread the epoxy around to secure the sphere as well as possible. No need to replace the screw, but be careful not to get epoxy on the rear part of the sphere where the mirror socket will lock around it. After the epoxy cures, put the lock ring on the mirror socket and push it into place on the sphere and you're done!
