GP 1800 Sponsons

Hey guys, Im thinking of getting sponsons for my 18' GP 1800 1.5 +.

Only questions, what are the negative effects ? Will top speed decrease ?

I had the Worx sponsons on my GP1800 for two rides before removing them. They were very aggressive in low position or tame in upper position. I noticed that the ski was a bit less stable with a passenger and also while solo as it seems the width of the stock sponsons helps it from rocking side to side. I don't recommend spending the money unless you are racing or on a buoy course. The GP handles great already!

Disappointing but very informative information. I ride with passengers and often tow. I guess I’m hoping to try and get more handling out of my ski when I want but not willing to sacrifice anything anywhere else.

IIRC the Riva sponsons have a more complex shape, not just a vertical blade.

I love buoy racing on my gp. I dont think I would change sponsons from stock.

I have the worx sponsons on my GP....LOVE THEM!

I have the worx sponsons on my vxr. Have them set to second lowest position. Handling is definitely more responsive/aggressive. I added a top loading grate at the same time that I put them on. Top speed decreased a little, probably both the sponsons and grate contributed to that.

What position you keep them at? I'm on the fence with them. Some say they're a waste, some love them. Did they scrub any speed?

They won't scrub any speed, Sponsons are completely out of the water when running up on plane going straight.
