    Question Flyboard GTX 4-Tec question

Hi, I am new to the world of flyboarding, so please go easy on me. Has anybody had experience running a flyboard on a 2002 Seadoo GTX 4-Tec (155HP)? What kind of performance should I expect to get (180lbs)? Are there any accessories I should be thinking about getting with it? I have gotten conflicting info if 155HP is enough, so I would like some more input.
    Thanks in advance!

It it will work if using ski for Flyboard only get a dual impeller you wonít go very high but to start you donít need to make sure ski is well maintained change oil filters etc not regularly as it puts a different strain on engine if flying solo you will need a remote throttle and fit electric bilge pump or 2 as you wonít know itís sinking till too late

as you progress the 155 will dual prop and more power but to start you should be fine the Yamaha 1800 is a good mid ground and if your lucky the 230/260 4tec are cheap and can last long enough looked after

in my opinion, the ski won't last long, it's already 17 years old and the flyboard makes it run at 110% ALL the time and on top of that it's underpowered to boot.

disclaimer-I have not run a flyboard

Ok. So the dual impeller is definitely necessary? With it how high should I expect? Would it help to shorten the hose from 70ft to 55 or 60?
Just out of curiosity, how are people flyboarding with 90hp sparks?

it appears they have a model that supports the 90HP engine!

    live and learn

that looks like it's doable if you aren't too ambitious on height and maneuvers

still it's running the spark absolutely flat out

I'd be inclined to find the worst cosmetic 4-tec I could and have a relatively fresh motor in it for such shennigans

spark only works for light riders and still don’t go high, stick with standard hose you won’t straighten it unless your v light and have a dual prop on a SC ski with mods balls out....

are you going to run it as a dedicated hydro unit or still want to ride it as a ski?

malvin in peurto rico is a doo hydroflight expert and tunes the big skis for the pros.

how high do you want to go?

I think I am going to use it as a designated hydro unit. The hose that comes with it is 75ft. How much would it help to shorten it to 50ft?
So the dual prop is a must?

It won’t help really only the length in the air matters, if running it dedicated yes get a dual prop and bilge pump..... speak to flywerks or another hydro flight specialist

this could be a good deal https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F 153448310792

do a jet pump service bearings and oil etc Hope ski lasts a few months by then you want SC power

Sounds good. How high should I expect with a dual impeller? The lake is still too cold to go out on, but should be good in a couple of weeks. I am so hesitant to get a SC ski as I have had nothing but bad luck with them. Are there any other good skis for flyboarding that dont use a SC?

If you've never been on a jetpack or fly board before you will be fine. I have one of the original jetlev jetpacks. I rented it out using an 07' Yamaha fx ho cruiser for 2 summers. My skis still run strong.

Seadoo, ur more than likely gonna have alot of maintenance and break downs from what I've seen.

As far as power you should be fine. It takes a while to get comfortable. I definitely wanted more power by the end of first summer. But it was and is still a blast as is.

With limited power 70ft is way too long. It will definitely effect overall performance. With no water its heavy and cumbersome. When its filled it's much worse. Whatever hose ur not pulling up out of the water will be dragging on the bottom and just weighing u and the ski down. My hose is 35ft and I use it all. I could possibly get another 10ft out of my ski but it would be pushing it. Mine is 160hp.

If u can lift 40ft that leaves 30ft of a big ass heavy hose dragging around for nothing. And its gonna kill ur max height pushing water that much further. I would do a test run to see how high you can get then figure out what to cut it at. But I would add an extra 10 to 15 ft because ur rolly gonna get a little higher once you cut away all that dead weight and distance. Plus make sure you include length from pump to front of ski. I'd go 40 to 45ft.

Dual prop absolutely necessary. I tried without it , ski was screaming and I only reached about 10ft. Skat trak is who you want to call. Tell them ur set up they'll do the rest. I believe mine was around $800.

I would highly recommend u get a Yamaha, and stay away from super charged unless you plan on spending alot of time, maintenance and money.

You will be fine with 30 40ft and 160hp. As soon as ur above the water you feel high as shit lol. Took me awhile to get comfortable with 35ft dont know if I could do 70ft lol and I'm pretty much an expert on my pack.

If u have any questions dont hesitate to ask. Goodluck
