Rear portion of the exhaust manifold that connects the header to the waterbox.

A decent amount of pitting where the blue exhaust hose connects with the water box, but it showed no signs of that leaking (ran ok, no water/exhaust in the hull). This is the bottom cooling line elbow on the water box, no noticeable corrosion in it.

Ran the water hose into the cooling line on the collector, leaving the blue hose end faced down and the exhaust manifold/water jackets up at an angle...forcing water to flow up hill through the water jackets. All the water went were it was supposed to, nothing leaking out the blue hose end of the collector. So I feel like the manifold/collector are OK.

I did find the hose that runs water from the jet pump into the exhaust manifold has a rip in it...not sure if thatís a contributing factor to the hydro lock...in the process of installing all new hoses

If the waterbox is corroded on the inside it can cause the same issues. There is another tube on the inlet to the waterbox that is supposed to keep water from draining back into the exhaust manifold.

Hi Sean. Please can you elaborate on the tube that is supposed to prevent water from draining back into the exhaust manifold.

If you can draw a sketch that will be great.

Take this with a gain of salt, its drawn from memory.

Essentially its an extension tube to keep water from sloshing back into the exhaust manifold and keep the blue coupler cooler.

You are an artist. Thanks a lot for the picture. I found when I move the muffler back and forward and up and down water splashes out the inlet where the exhaust gases enter. Itís like I try and mimic my ski bobbing on the sea. I donít think itís supposed to do that though.

I dont have a loose waterbox to check right now but if I remember I will pickup one on saturday and stick my borescope in to confirm.
