Bilge pump upgrade for an FX

Hello all....the riding season is almost here....WOOHOO!!! I'm looking to upgrade my bilge pump in my FXCSHO to an automatic model. I'd ideally like to swap it for one that fits in the existing mount. Rewiring is obviously necessary...I'm just looking for one that fits in the existing spot, as the bilge of an FX is "busy"...to put it nicely....lol. Any recommendations? Anyone swapped theirs out? Thanks for any suggestions!

It's the original oem pump...2012 FXCSHO. Runs only while ski is powered up.

I do not have an FX, so I do not know what actual make and model was installed from the factory.

If you want it to fit into the existing pump bracket, then you are likely limited to the same or very similar bilge pump. For example, the basic Rule 500gph bilge pump fits the same bracket as the Rule 360 gph model.

For my own Yamaha (not an FX) I installed a much higher capacity bilge pump, with electronic automatic water sensing, directly powered from the battery. Whale Supersub SS1212 model.

I have posted elsewhere details on the installation and why I chose that specific make and model. Essentiallly, if there is water coming in, I want it going out, fast.

A bilge pump may not entirely prevent a sinking, but it can buy you more time to get to shore, or somehow deal with the leak. The more water it can pump per minute, the better your chances.

Hi. If itís the same as my FX, itís a pretty standard Rule bilge pump. There is a float switch you can buy (also rule) that wires in perfectly to do just exactly what you want it to do. They are in fact more commonly fitted with the flat switch in boats.
Be warned to the wise though...when they are fitted to boats like this, the battery in a boat is far more capable of sustaining this type of standby function. The wee batteries in a ski wouldnít last long at all should it ever need to be called into service. All the best.
