Do you know that using the 05 or later exhaust pipe gains 10 hp on the GPR ? I have one on my GPR and it works . It’s called the “joint pipe “ on the Yamaha parts description. I got one off a wrecked 05 GP1300R .

This thread is a prime example of why I tell everyone to get a notebook and check their skis compression often.

I have an 05 ring joint pipe on my 2000 as well...I think I got it on Adam's recommendation. They can be hard to find, and you have to really check the pics to make sure you get the correct part. Mine made a good bit of difference, not sure if it made 10 extra horses, but can tell a good difference. I would definitely recommend!

For these piston wash pics, are you wiping the piston top clean with solvent, or is that the appearance when the head is removed without touching the pistons?

    Thanks,

OK, here is the piston wash with the '05-'08 ring joint exhaust installed. It added 50-70 rpm on the top end. These pistons have 15hrs on them and I run Mystik Sea and Snow oil at 40:1.
