    Thumbs down 2010 RXTX leaky exhaust valve

    Hi guys,

    Got a 2010 RXTX. After replacing half the parts on the ski, I decided to do a leak down test. found that cyl #3 is leaking through the exhaust about %5 leak. I could ride the ski as is because it really doesnt effect top end, however the ski is hard to start and get going without hitting the throttle at the right time and idles pretty rough.

    How involved is pulling the head?

    What's the compression like? 5% leakdown result is very good.

    cyinder drop test will confirm your diagnosis, but I'll concur 5% ain't bad

    I'll also agree that a leaky valve isn't aht noticeable at higher rpms.

    Perhaps the poor idle is caused by a plugged injector?

    compression test . and a drop test.

    I agree its not causing your hard to start. I had a coil wire fail and even with only 2 cylinders working it would fire right up no problem.

    sorry i cant remember exactly. I think it was 10-15% because it was just getting into the "moderate" on my OTC gauge.

    -compression test, they were all the same, i want to say 125.
    -I just had injectors cleaned and fuel rail cleaned to isolate this.

    If it was coil, wouldnt that throw a code? I know the cylinder is leaking cuz I can hear it it coming out exhaust on leak-down

    drop which cylinder? The one that fires before it or the one that is leaking? What will i see/when I drop it?
