I had jerry build me a custom 1 1/2 to use as a sensor holder for egt and O2 readings , if it serves any other purpose am not sure but i do remember reading something about it helping the flow of the exhaust due to it not being a curse angle straight out of the cylinder head.Click image for larger version.

'That's not too close for o2? There is pure fire coming out those ports. I would be interested to know the spread between the 3 readings.

Plenty of other folks have done it not worried much since I also thought it was a bit in the way and have a way to help them last longer if thatís the case ( copper crush washer will raise it up a bit more). 980C/1796F is really hot and your engine should not be running this hot/lean.Click image for larger version.

That's probably a safer place for the O2 than the tail end of the manifold, less chance of getting water damage which is the real O2 killer.

Totally agree....I'm using the 1" version of this spacer, and 2 of the 3 sensors are the original sensors I installed back in 2015.
