    Finicky DESS post

This if for the pros out there. I have a 2011 RXT-260 with a finicky DESS post. I have to put it on, take it off, push harder and wiggle it around to get my two beeps. I found this in the addendum to my service manual and it seems like a solution to my problem. Have any of you used this tool to solve the problem?

didn't even know such a thing existed.

What I do know that a finicky post can become a real liability

Typically the reed switch fails (in my opinion) due to induction arcing after a couple of years

    and cheap enough to replace.

I had a ski in this year where the switch was actually stuck on ( very rare, luckily)

it torpedoed about 3 miles out after tossing the rider off and ran aground in some mud. how it didn't hit somebody was simply a miracle

after all of that..how much does the tool cost?

    but but but...

    the labor!

I'd take it as a toss up. Might have been a real issue when the ski was new, I suspect yours was already "sized" if that bulletin was in there, thus making it a rather bad bet ( like playing twelve at craps because you have a "feeling" and it does pay 30-1)

interesting bit for an interesting problem however.

My 2002 key just pops on and gives 2 beeps immediately. On the 2011 it is annoying but no big deal. I was just happy to see that it was "not" the way it was supposed to work and there is a solution. It is the same on the learning key too so it must be the post. I'll probably buy the tool and it will go into my drawer of tools that I will only ever use once. I'll let you know how it works out. Skis are in storage right now so I won't be getting to it until April.
