Gifted (2) 2004 GTXs and need information

    Hello All,

I was given (2) 2004 GTX skis this Christmas and have some questions after cruising the internet.

How do I determine what the actual model is (supercharged/limited supercharged)?

They have been sitting for 3 years and have less than 100hrs on them.

I have been compiling a list of items that need to be completed and want to make sure I am not overlooking anything.

    1. Oil and filter change

    2. Cleaning the entire fuel system with new fuel filters installed

    3. Coolant flush and replacement

    4. Supercharger ceramic clutch replacement to metal.

    5. Batteries (looking for mid range as I have Battery Tender to keep them in top shape)

And since the skis have been sitting they now have Gelcoat blisters in the foot wells. Wondering if I should leave them or try and tackle a repair. I am not concerned about cosmetic, but if this is a structural issue then I want to repair it.

I have have downloaded a shop manual but it has every version of the 2004 seadoos. Wanted to know if there is one just specific to the gtx.

    Thanks everyone!

Here's where to get the 2004 shop manual.

Were they used in salt water or fresh water? Also there should be a plastic plate rivited to the top of the ski near the back with the VIN. Post those to help ID it.

If they are supercharged, (just look for a supercharger on rear of engine) or if the throttle body is on the front of the engine, then its not supercharged.
Also, you need to have the superchargers rebuilt, not just the washers.
New seats are in order too.
Also, if they are supercharged, that year has bad valves, so they should be replaced along with the flywheel bolts.

They were used in both Salt and fresh water. Always cleaned when got out of the water. They got busy with a father that was sick and they just covered them and they sat. Up until that they were maintained regularly.

116KW = 155HP the pics are not the best, I don't see a supercharger so I would guess these are the 155HP non supercharged models. Clean them up, change the fluids and spark plugs check the pump for water intrusion then ride them.

    Thanks for the help fellas!!!
So I don’t need to worry about the valves or flywheel bolts if it’s not super charged? If so that just saved a ton of cash!!

just to be on the safe side, anyone have a good pic of where the supercharger is located? Thanks for helping as I am totally new to skis!!

This is from a 2003 GTX 185. The supercharger is circled in blue. For reference, the driveshaft bellows are indicated by the yellow arrow.

The 155 is a great motor. I know some guys who own a rental operation and they get more than two thousand hours out of them. You don't need flywheel bolts. I don't know about the valves though someone else will chime in.
