    Lucky13 cone

Ok, stupid question. I'm assuming that the Lucky13 cone is supposed to point downwards?

I just found the answer. Looks like it is supposed to be angled up.

I was able to take the ski out this morning to test the cone. I'll have to be honest, I was very skeptical. Ultimately I assumed I would end up going with a taller impeller, but I may have the perfect setup with the cone. I installed the cone with all of the shims.

    Conditions:
    57 degrees
84% humidity, so not nearly as ideal as my run last week
Water was calmer, which in my opinion slows the FX down a bit. I like a little chop to create less friction.

    Previous RPM's without cone - 9600

    Results with the cone:

    Cold RPM's - 9420
    Hot RPM's - 9240
    86.6 mph

I didn't stay out long enough to evaluate the effect on cavitation,,but it couldn't have hurt me. The way I see it, when warmer weather comes, I can reduce the shims and gain back my rpm, and have a legitimate 85mph ski in 90 degree heat.

RPM's dropped, but I lost about 1.5 mph. But as I said, humidity was high, and the water was flatter; both of which could have slowed me down. I'm really wondering what the ski will do with a taller impeller.
