Question Jet pump seal replacement, tools needed?

I want to do preventive maintenance on my jet pump for next season and replace impeller side seal(s).

Do you still need a press and special pushing tools to remove and reinstall any seals?

You can use a bigass socket if you donít have the tools to press the rear seals , just make sure you order the new 2019 seals they use 2 lips per seal total 4 seals contact surface.

We usually see the shaft fail, The DLC coating bubbles up and tears up the seals. I can see how the new seal will help. Salt water.

I agree with you but the fact itís got more seals should make it Last longer.

For every 10 jet pump I rebuild I see 4 fail from sand and or fishing line ,4 from corroded shafts and 2 from bad front nose cone seals improperly installed after a wear ring was replaced and nose cone reinstalled using same old seals .

I have even given up on genuine shafts for that reason.
    Hopefully the new seals help.

I envy how Kawi builds there pumps with actual good quality salt corrosion proof pump shafts and driveshaft , itís amazing how a seadoo driveshaft looks after just a few hours vs a Kawi or Yamaha shaft with same hour cluster t almost if not rust free.

Seadoo shafts have been avarage since day one.
It can be great fun getting a carbon ring of an old unit.

I cut the bellow as I replace them any how when doing a carbon ring kit ,the amount of rust holding them in place is amazing , Iíve researched about every carbon delete kit Iíve seen on the hulk and online and see why they fail , I have implemented all that Iíve learned and seen into my prototype kit. Time will tell if itís a keeper or not , but all that failed use very puny needle bearing with direct contact to the shaft and to make a kit that would work would be extremely expensive , hence the kits that have withheld the longest are really expensive and out of reach due to cost .
