I am guessing it’d be too good of a thing but, I gotta ask anyway - ANY CHANCE THE 2019 GPR Ride Plate and Intake Grate will fit a 201*8* VXR ???
yes they will fit your VXR

also guys, ride plates are now on back order. Yamaha is saying April, but I feel it will be sooner than that

Should we probably reinforce the mounting area while were at it? If so do you guys sell the stuff for that?

Whats the procedure? Is it just a bracket for the inside or is there glass involved? I want to make this Hull last.

I think you should reinforce the mounting area, the 2019 grate has a wing which could place more downward force on the grate.

Does anyone know if the reinforcing is necessary on the 2018 VXRs?

Right now, I dont have any intention of taking our VXR past its stock 62mph +/- and we only ride on fresh flat water where we only have our own or perhaps a distant speedboats wakes to jump

Unfortnuately, the VXR is in winter storage and I am trying to remember if Yamaha cut out that upper portion of the lower hull and put the intake grate Insert into that recessed area leaving only one layer of hull for support on the 18 VXRs, the way they did the 18 GPRs.

Thanks in advance for any insight (I may have to put this Handling Package purchase ahead of the JC Racing mid sponsons I have my eye on (but, those are for a 19 Kawa SXR 1500 that hasnt even arrived yet.... :-/

I believe the 2018 VXR has the same non-reinforced intake grate inserts as 2017/2018 GP1800.

While there have been fewer reports of hull cracks in this area with non-supercharged models, there have been at least a couple. Includign on stock non-modified examples.

While it is a hassle, it is a one time thing. Then you know it is strong and elminate a possible worry.

10-4. Thats what I was thinking. Im just on a 16 VXR with bolt ons, doing about 67. Not a risky as a GP but I might just do it for a winter project.
